Sort of ordinary power boat cockpit

This one is sort of ordinary. The actual console looks insteresting but is does not match of the color scheme.  Too much blue in an otherwise white and red environment.

Racing spaceship power boat

Now that is a darn bright red!.  And it sure looks like a spaceship. I love the center control panel. Very car-like.

Nice bright red colors and looks like really nice upolstery.

Monkett III Seven-Seat MTI 40' Cat

This is the engine from Monkett III.
It is a 40' Cat from MTI.
This photo was taken in Key West in 2011 at the Poker Run.
It is a pity that they did not open the engine compartment fully but this view is not bad at all.

Power Boat Impossible number of gauges

If you're like me you would be wondering how any sort of transportation vehicle could possibly have so many gauges.  I am amazed.  Add to that the superb color combinations and we get the power boat console below. This console is stunning and very entertaining.  I will admit that it might be color overload after watching it for some time.  That's possible.  But one thing I know.  I like it.

Twin Turbo Speed Boat

I guess these guys build or install turbo chargers for power boats.  Is this a jet engine?

Michigan Powerboat Driver Console

From Boyne Thunder Powerboat Poker Run - July 8 2011
There's my favorite blue again.  These powerboat colors are outstanding.  I wonder what is that gauge built into the back of the seat. The gear levers and throttle levers on this one are on opposite sides so the driver can use both sets of hand without having to one arm across his body.

There is lots more information on Powerboat Nation.

Metalic Blue Powerboat Console

This is from a Michigan boat.
I just love how this control panel on this boat is so space aged. This is my favorite blue.  I also love the throttle and gear levers.

Yellow Yellow you Evil Scary Fellow

The title of this post is an inside joke. Don't ask.
That aside, I just love the airbrushed skull.
How in the name of all things holy do they clean these engines to this degree of perfection?

Blue super charger

One thing I notice here is the blue super charger module on the top of the engine.  Nice contrast with the over the top red of this boat.

Powerboat Cockpit from Key West

This was taken in Key West at the 2011 Key West Poker Run.
I have to say I am a little disappointed in this one. Compared to some of the other entries this one seems a little messy. I am mostly noticing the scuff marks on the black areas.  Hey. Make yourself look presentable when  you are going out in public.

Key West Powerboat Beauty

There's a reason they open up the engine compartments on these powerboats.  These magnificent machines are such a sight to behold.  I wish I had a close up.

A powerboat engine beauty

What gets me is this. Engines are not usually thought of as something clean. Yet, look at this powerboat engine. Remember, this is a functioning powerboat. This looks as if it was just removed from the wrapping a few minutes prior to taking this photo.

Work of Art Powerboat Engine

These powerboat engines never cease to amaze me. They are so pristine. All the chrome fittings and special colored parts make this nothing short of a work of art.  Looks like these engines are turbo or super charged.
Here is a shot from a different angle.

Space Age Red Engine Compartment

Boyne Thunder Poker Run

Powerboat Engine
Isnt' it amazing how they make these pristine looking engines in these boats? I am digging the red. I have almost no idea what some of these parts are but they look so space age.

John Wilson - P1 Powerboat racer Cockpit

John Wilson, P1 Powerboat racer

Pertemps P1 SuperStock Powerboat Cowes

British Powerboat Festival 2011

I personally find this cockpit a bit boring compared to some of the other ones I have seen. Then again it is for racing and does not have to look fancy or cool.  It would be nice if it did.

About Cowes (from wikipedia)
Cowes is an English sea port town on the Isle of Wight and has been seen as a home for international yacht racing since the founding of the Royal Yacht Squadron in 1815. The town gives its name to the world's oldest regular regatta, Cowes Week, which occurs annually in the first week of August. Later on in the summer, powerboat races are held.

Powerboat Apache Driver Console

Boyne Michigan Powerboat Poker Run
July 2011
This is for power boat Apache. If you like purple you will love this boat. This is truly set up as a racing style boat.  Some of these owners do not race.  They just like to go fast. The padding is designed to minimize any movement while they are travelling at 120 MPH. Notice how the gear and throttle levers are placed so that the co-pilots can operate them leaving the boat driver to steer.
Do they really need that many gauges?

Beautiful Powerboat Engines

Photo from Boyne Thunder Poker Run July 8 2011.
This is a powerboat event to benefit a children camp.
The engines are not so clearly visible from this angle. But I thought it was interesting from this angle. This is a cat that is why the engines are so far apart.

Here is a close up of the engine from the same boat.  I cannot even imagine what it takes to keep such a clean engine. Beautiful.

Triple Red Outdrives

Powerboat Poker Run
Boyne, Michigan
July 2011
I'm not sure what it is about these triple red outdrives that strikes me.  Perhaps it is fire engine red color.  Or the fact that they are so shiny and new. They also seem very solid and durable. And I cannot leave out the steel bars that link the three of them. Nothing flimsy here.
